Persistent problems with traffic and parking are the downside of living in a thriving urban neighborhood. This Committee works to address and improve local pedestrian and traffic conditions. Because traffic patterns on our streets are generated by factors beyond the Back Bay, our work extends to Kenmore Square, the South End, Beacon Hill, Storrow Drive and the Mass. Pike.

TrafficThe committee also works to improve transit service to the Back Bay so that fewer auto trips are required, and works with the Development Committee to make sure that new projects in our area are as transit friendly as possible.

The Committee identifies problems and advocates forcefully for traffic enforcement or other responses by city and state transportation agencies. Much of its work involves evaluating the impact of development both within and outside the Back Bay which threaten to add further pressure to a city transportation infrastructure already operating beyond its capacity.

And because neighborhood coalitions often have greater impact on the outcome, committee members band together with other groups on behalf of NABB in an attempt to solve citywide transportation issues
